The Standard "About Me" Blurb...

Who am I?
My name is Jennifer. I am 33 years old, but still get carded for R-rated movies. I am the owner of a new house that am trying to transition from dorm room drab to Apartment Therapy chic. I pay the bills by teaching second grade. It is a all-consuming and often exhausting job, but I do love it. Most days.

Do I even use this thing anymore?
I rarely update for eyes other than my own. I tend to journal online for myself, privately, but would like to start sharing friends-only posts again. I am generally just too worn out and busy to compose something with a level of sense of which I would wish others to read.

What's important to me?
I am a Christian. I am also a generally liberal person, including politically. I do not believe that this is contradictory. I understand others may think so, and that's okay with me. I won't tell anyone else what they should think or do, and I expect the same in return from others. I am all about peace and being happy. I am also a huge animal lover and advocate. I am a vegetarian for those reason. I love all animals, even the barnyard kind. I am a big fan of mother nature and am what you might describe as a "lazy environmentalist." I like to indulge my inner hippie when possible. My students' class t-shirts were tie-dye.

What do I love?
I love music, film, books, tv, and basically just "pop culture" in general. I love, love, love Jason Castro from season seven of AI. I think he is pretty much perfect in every way. Beyond Jason, my musical taste spans an extremely wide range, but tends to hone in on "indie" or "indie-style" bands and singer-songwriters. I particularly love Ray LaMontagne, Heather Nova, A Fine Frenzy, Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson, Over the Rhine, The Bird and the Bee, Jump Little Children, Cary Brothers, Imogen Heap, Snow Patrol, and Travis. I also love classical music, opera, and musical theater. Kathleen Battle is my favourite opera singer. The Mikado is my favourite opera, Les Miserables and RENT are my favourite musicals. I also adore independent films, but am not opposed to blockbusters either. The Lord of the Rings trilogy remain collectively to be my most favourite films. I read ridiculous amounts of YA and children's lit for a 29 year old, but also enjoy works by classic and modern women's writers or biographies and readable historical non-fiction. The Bell Jar is probably the my long-standing favourite, overall.

I love handmade things, covet too many things on etsy, read design and indie craft blogs constantly, and wish for a crafty gene. I am obsessed with my cats, Sam and Carly. Cupcakes make me happy. Owls are a bit of my mascot and tend to be on much of what I own. Trees, birds, mushrooms, trees, and gnomes pop up often as well. I tend to fantasize that I live in Britain, but would happily settle for Portland or Boulder or even Asheville, if only I had the gumption to strike out on my own that way. Bradford Anderson (Spinelli from GH) is my pretend boyfriend. I wish I loved water, but tend to drink my weight in Diet Coke. It's a teacher thing. I am who I am and am usually okay with that!
